Land Navigation
The Kearfott family of land navigation products provide high accuracy navigation and pointing for surface vehicles, tanks, and artillery. They are available as Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Land Navigation Kits, or incorporated into Indirect Fire Systems. All of the Kearfott land navigation products are built with a modular architecture providing scalable inertial performance while allowing significant size constraints to be realized. Additionally, the land navigation products are configurable to platform requirements, including GPS and other aiding inputs. Accurate performance is maintained even under the extreme shock and vibration environments in the battlefield.

Land Navigation System
Kearfott’s LandNav System offers a mature sensor solution while providing a modular architecture, allowing maximum flexibility for the Land Navigation Market. The LandNav Inertial unit contains a Monolithic Ring Laser Gyro (MRLG) and MOD VIIA pendulous accelerometers enabling the LandNav to provide accurate heading, attitude, velocity and position information required for navigation. The LandNav Inertial Unit has the capability to integrate a Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver (embedded or external) and a Vehicle Motion Sensor (VMS) to provide additional aiding during operational scenarios. Modular design allows the LandNav to be offered at scalable accuracies while maintaining the interface and mounting footprint.
- Lightweight package
- Embedded or External GPS module
- Vehicle motion sensor integration to provide velocity measurements
- On the move alignment with valid GPS
- RS-232 or RS-422 selectable interface
- Flexible installation
- Configurable for platform requirements
- High navigation and accurate performance during battlefield shock and vibration
Kits
Kearfott’s LandNav Kits offer a mature sensor solution in a modular architecture allowing maximum flexibility for the operational user. Kearfott’s LandNav Kit includes an Inertial Sensor Assembly (ISA) and the required Inertial Electronic card set to allow full functionality of the ISA when integrated in the users’ platform. The ISA contains a Monolithic Ring Laser Gyro (MRLG) and three MODVIIA pendulous accelerometers, enabling the ISA to generate angular rates (Δθ) and linear accelerations (Δ v). The LandNav kit has the capability to integrate a Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver (embedded or external) and a Vehicle Motion Sensor (VMS), providing additional aiding during operational scenarios.
